CULTURAL TOURISM OF PAMPANG
Pampang is located about 20 km from Samarinda, which is an interesting cultural tourism area to see the life of Dayak Kenyah. This cultural attraction can be reached by motor vehicle through Samarinda-Bontang highway route. The attraction that can be seen is Lamin or Dayak tribal house, dances and traditional ceremonies of Dayak Kenyah. Special art performance only held on Sunday at 11.00 A.M onward.
TANAH MERAH WATERFALL
The waterfall of Tanah merah was located about 14 km from Samarinda, exactly in village of Purwosari within North Samarinda districts. This place would be the right choice for family travel as it comes with pavilion breaks, shelter with shade trees around the site, stalls, spacious vehicle parking area, and an open stage. To achieve these attractions, it can be reached with either motorcycle or public transport route from Segiri Market to Sungai Siring district.
ALLIGATOR BREEDING OF MAKROMAN
Located on the village of Pulau Atas at Palaran districts with approximately 6 km from Samarinda. The breeding place preserved typically freshwater alligators & Supit alligators. The proliferation of the place was already completed with infrastructure & tourist facilities.
BOTANICAL GARDEN OF SAMARINDA
The botanical garden was located in north of Samarinda which is approximately 20 km or 30 minutes journey by land. In Samarinda Botanical Gardens, there are several nature attractions, such as lake, zoo, and theater entertainment.
TELAGA BATU PERMAI BESAUNG
Telaga Batu Permai Besaung is a natural tourist attraction, located in Sempaja which is 15 km from downtown of Samarinda with motor vehicle. This tourist attraction has been equipped with tourist facilities and infrastructure.
WEAVING CRAFTS OF SARONG SAMARINDA
The weaving crafts of sarong Samarinda is located on the Bung Tomo Street on Samarinda Seberang, it is a place where traditional Sarong-making process, which is 8 km from downtown of Samarinda. The object has already been equipped with tourist infrastructure. Handicraft weaving sheath was originally brought by the Bugis people from Sulawesi migrants who lived in the left side of the Mahakam, now called the Samarinda Seberang. In most of every village of Bugis (village of Masjid Baka) can be found craftsmen of sarongs. The loom used by the traditional craftsmen is a tool called "Gedokan". The production for 1 (one) sarong takes about three weeks.
GREEN VALLEY PARK
Green Valley is a natural attraction that is located in the lane between route Samarinda - Bontang or approximately 15.5 km from Samarinda by motor vehicle. The attractions contained object, which is the replica of the forest that consists of wood species on Borneo and also many rattan plants can be found in these tourist sites. The facilities available are: cafeteria, meeting pavilion, pond fishing, and camping ground.
FOREST HIGHWAY OF MULAWARMAN UNIVERSITY
Located 3 miles from the terminal of Lempake northern of Samarinda, it has several attractions, including sports facilities, boat tours, and mini zoo. For tourists who visit the natural attraction Forest of Mulawarman University can use motor vehicles although there are personnel and information center.
Citra Niaga is the commercial center designed to provide a place of business for small traders (60%), wholesalers, and secondary (40%).This area is well known for handicraft, souvenirs from all over East Kalimantan. For the reason of its concept of development and architectural aesthetic, Citra Niaga gained international recognition of the Aga Khan Award in 1987.
